The most recent version of the Mac operating system "X" (ten),
comes with its own mail application named "Mail". The following
instructions explain how to set up Mail to check your OlympusNet
mailbox as well as how to make corrections to your email settings
in the future.
Entering your email settings
Start Mail by clicking the Mail application icon in the
docking bar.

If this is the first you have started the Mail application,
you will be presented with a Mail Setup window asking for account
information. If this occurs, enter the required information as
described in steps 1-7 below. Otherwise, mail settings have already
been entered into the Mail application. Skip to the Making
corrections to your mail settings section and verify that your
settings are correct.
- Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the Your
Name box.
- Enter your email address in the Email Address
box.
- For the incoming mail server, enter mail.anet.net
in lowercase letters.
- Choose POP for the Mail Server Type.
- Enter your email address in the User Name box.
- Enter your password in the Password box.
- Enter smtp.anet.net in the last line then
click OK
- A new window may appear titled "Unlock Keychain".
Sometime during the setup of OS X on your Mac you were asked
to set a keychain password. If you want, you may enter
your keychain password now then click OK. If not, you
may click Cancel. For more information on Keychains, open
Finder, choose "Mac Help" from the Help menu and enter "keychain"
in the "Ask" line.
- If an "Import Mailboxes" window appears, click "NO" unless
you have a specific reason to do otherwise
- Please follow the steps below to set authentication for
sending email (SMTP.)
Setting up SMTP authentication and making corrections
to your mail settings
You need to set SMTP authentication to send email with OlympusNet.
You can also use the follow instructions to make changes
to your email settings, correct a typo, and remove an old
mail account or create a new account. To access your email settings,
do the following:
- With the Mail application open, Click the Mail menu at
the top of the screen then click Preferences.
- Along the top of the Mail Preferences window will be a series
of icons ("Accounts", "Fonts & Colors" "Viewing", etc.),
click the Accounts icon if it is not already selected.
- Click on the mail.anet.net account and click the
Edit button on the right.
- The Account Information tab appears. Click on the
Option button below.
- The SMTP Server Option box appears. In the Authentication
box select Password. Enter you email address
and password for your aNet.net account

- Click OK on the SMTP Server Options box and click OK on
the Account Information box. Close the Accounts box.
